This page describes the current product-level privacy expectations for X-ray Reference.

Uploaded images

Uploaded X-ray images may be processed to generate educational output and reference matching behavior. Current uploads are normalized into JPEG previews, stored on the server for product operation, and should be treated as non-confidential. Do not upload content you are not comfortable sharing with the service.

Sensitive information

Medical images and related files can contain sensitive information. Remove identifying details where appropriate before upload. Filenames and request metadata may be stored in operational logs or the local app database.

Third-party processing

When the live explainer model is enabled, uploaded images may be sent to an external model provider for educational processing. Do not use this service for protected clinical workflows.

Reference data

The library uses NIH-derived reference examples and related metadata for educational browsing and comparison features.

No promise of medical confidentiality

This site is not presented as a medical provider, hospital, or HIPAA-covered clinical service. Do not treat it as a substitute for secure clinical workflows.
